AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI CHAPTER 55, UTILITIES, REGARDING COMPRESSED
NATURAL GAS RATES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 55 of the Code of Ordinances is amended by adding new section 55-64 to
read as follows:
Sec. 55-64 Classification of customers and comoressed naturall!as rates.
Uti Comvressed natural f!as rates.
ill The citv gas suoerintendent shall preDare the rates for the sale of comoressed natural
gas.
ill The rates shall be based on the sum of:
a. The comoression char~e.
b. The distribution charge.
c. The commoditv charge.
d. Federal tax. and
e. State tax
ill These rates shall be submitted to the city manager for aooroval.
(f) The aoproved rates shall be filed with the citv secretary and copies shall be orovided
to the citv council.
Oil Retail and consumer rates. The rate categories at which comoressed natural gas shall be set
are as follows:
ill Wholesale. Consumers who own or ODerate a fleet of more than ten vehicles mav
ourchase comoressed natural gas at a reduced wholesale rate.

ill Retail. All other consumers mav Durchase comDressed natural gas at the retail rate.
W Periodic rate flas adiustment.
ill The Citv Gas Suoerintendent shall adiust the rates on a oeriodic basis bv:
a. Adiusting the comoression charge based on the City's cost to comoress the
natural gas for sale over the orevious six month oeriod.
b. Adjusting the distribution charge based on the City's cost to distribute natural
gas for sale over the orevious six month oeriod.
c. Adjusting the commodity charge based on the purchased gas adjustment as
Drovided in section 55-61( e),
ill The Citv Gas Suoerintendent shall file conies of the adjusted rates with the Citv
Secretary. CODies of the adjusted rates shall be orovided to the Citv Manager and the
City Council.
@ Effective date of rates. Comoressed natural gas rates shall become effective ten davs after
the rates are filed with the City Secretary.
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of
competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section. paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section,
paragraph, subdivision. clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for
its purpose.
SECTION 3. Section I of this ordinance is effective upon final adoption by the City Council.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made in the official publication ofthe City of Corpus Christi as
required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
