HomeMy WebLinkAbout024150 ORD - 08/22/2000AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A USE PRIVILEGE AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION FOR THE RIGHT TO CONSTRUCT, INSTALL AND MAINTAIN ENHANCED PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS, RETAINING WALLS LANDSCAPING, AND ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING (IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE NEW FEDERAL COURTHOUSE) IN THE STREET RIGHT OF WAYS OF A PORTION OF I.H. 37 AND SHORELINE FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION CONSTRUCTING, INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING THE IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to execute a Use Privilege Agreement with the United States Generai Services Administration for the right to construct, install and maintain enhanced pedestrian walkways, retaining walls landscaping, and architectural lighting (in association with the new Federal Courthouse) in the street right of ways of a portion of I.H. 37 and Shoreline for the consideration of the General Services Administration constructing, installing and maintaining the improvements. A copy of the Use Privilege Agreement is on file with the City Secretary. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances ATTEST: THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Arm~ Secretary Samuel L.
