AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 024188, WHICH ORDERED A
SPECIAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000 ON QUESTIONS OF
AUTHORIZING OBLIGATIONS OF THE CITY SUPPORTED BY AD
VALOREM TAXES AND AUTHORIZING A SALES AND USE TAX
PURSUANT TO SECTION 4A OF ARTICLE 5190.6, VERNON'S
TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 024188, adopted on August 29, 2000, is hereby amended by
amending Proposition No. 4 and Proposition No. 5 of Section 7 thereof to change "one-eight" to
"one-eighth '.
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 024188, adopted on August 29, 2000, is hereby amended by~
amending the first sentence of Section 10 thereof to read as follows:
Monies maintained in the separate fund for Proposition No. 6 shall be cxpended only to
attract and secure facilities and employers who contractually agree 1) to add new facilities
or expand existing facilities in Corpus Christi or any industrial district of the City of Corpus
Christi, and 2) to permanently hire or maintain employees in Corpus Christi or any industrial
district of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of
competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for
its purpose.
SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular
meetings: l/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on
the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
