AMENDING ORDINANCE 023259 PASSED AND APPROVED ON
MARCH 24, 1998, BY AMENDING SECTION 3 TO ADOPT THE FINAL
ASSESSMENT ROLL AND ASSESSMENTS TO BE LEVIED AGAINST THE
OWNERS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING ON THE FOLLOWING STREETS:
SOUTHMORELAND ADDITION ST. IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE I
NAPLES STREET - EDWARDS STREET TO BLEVINS STREET
TARLTON STREET - AYERS STREET TO NAPLES STREET
LEWIS STREET - EDWARDS STREET TO BLEVINS STREET
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 023259 passed and approved on March 24, 1998, be amended by
amending Section 3 to adopt the final assessment roll and assessments to be levied against the
owners of property abutting on the following streets: Naples Street - Edwards Street to Blevins
Street; Tadton Street - Ayers Street to Naples Street; Lewis Street - Ed~vards Street to Blevins Street,
a substantial copy of which is attached and incorporated as Exhibit A.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached,
the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action
necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter
rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 241h
day of October .2000.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

Southmoreland Additional Streets Improvements. Phase I
Naples Street - Edwards Street to Blevins Street
Tarlton Street - Ayers Street to Naples Street
Lewis Street - Edwards Street to Blevins Street
The streets shall be constructed by excavation to a width and depth to permit the laying of a standard
6" curb and gutter section, 8" compacted lime stabilized subgrade, 6" & 10" compacted caliche base.
1.5" Type "D" Hot mix asphaltic pavement. The streets shall be 28' wide and constructed within the
existing right-of-way. There will be a 4' and 5' wide standards reinforced concrete sidewalk 4' thick
and 6" thick reinforced concrete driveway aprons to property line.
The assessment rates have been calculated in accordance with the City' s current assessment policy
and the low bid prices submitted by W.T. Young Construction Co. The assessment rates are as
follows:
