HomeMy WebLinkAbout024271 ORD - 11/14/2000AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO GRANT A TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENT FOR A TERM OF ELEVEN MONTHS TO TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-CORPUS CHRISTI (TAMU-CC), GOING IN, ON, UNDER, OVER, AND ALONG A CERTAIN 16,639.92 SQUARE FOOT TRACT OF LAND FRONTING OCEAN DRIVE, CONSTITUTING A PORTION OF WARD ISLAND, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, IN CONSIDERATION FOR THE CREATION OF A PUBLIC BEACH AND PAYMENT OF AN ANNUAL RENTAL RATE OF ONE DOLLAR; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to grant a Temporary Construction Easement for a term of eleven months to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC), going in, on, under, over, and along a certain 16,639.92 square foot tract of land fronting Ocean Drive, constituting a portion of Ward Island, Corpus Christi, Texas, in consideration for the creation of a public beach and payment of an annual rental rate of one dollar. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council ( 1 ) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that th's · ordinance is passed atld takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of [~O U~O0.
