HomeMy WebLinkAbout024591 ORD - 09/18/2001Page 1 of 2 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE SPECIAL WARRANTY DEEDS NECESSARY FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF LOT 1, BLOCK 1, AND LOT 1, BLOCK 3, ARCADIA SUBDIVISION TO DEL MAR COLLEGE PURSUANT TO SECTION 272.001 (j) OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE IN CONSIDERATION OF THE PROPERTY BEING USED FOR PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION PURPOSES AND PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF $17,722.04 WITH COVENANT TO MAINTAIN THE PREMISES; REQUIRING RETAINAGE OF THE NECESSARY UTILITY EASEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to execute special warranty deeds necessary for the conveyance of Lot 1, Block 1, and Lot 1, Block 3, Arcadia Subdivision to Del Mar College pursuant to section 272.001 (j) of the Local Government Code in consideration of the property being used for public higher education purposes and payment of the sum of $17,722.04 with covenant to maintain the premises; and the deeds shall reserve the necessary utility easements. A copy of each of the deeds is on file with the City Secretary. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 18th day of September, 2001.
