AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 2-311(3) OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ADD SECTION 255.003 OF THE
TEXAS ELECTION CODE, REGARDING POLITICAL
ADVERTISING, TO THE STANDARDS OF CONDUCT IN THE
CODE OF ETHICS
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 2-311(3) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi is
amended to hereafter read as follows:
(3)W You shall not use city facilities, personnel, equipment or supplies for purposes
unrelated to the interests of the city, except to the extent such are lawfully available to the
public.
(b ) You may not spend or authorize the spending of public funds for political advertising.
This prohibition does not apply to a communication that factuallv describes the purposes of
a measure if the communication does not advocate passage or defeat of the measure. This
paragraph shall be construed consistently with Texas Election Code Section 255.003.
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of
competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for
its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
