HomeMy WebLinkAbout024619 RES - 10/09/2001RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 021901 ADOPTING POLICIES AND GENERAL RULES AND PROCEDURES OF THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING THE POLICY FOR NAMING OF STREETS WHEREAS, in Resolution No. 021901, the City Council established a policy of declining to change the names of streets in the City of Corpus Christi except under unusual, extenuating circumstances; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend this policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That City Council Policy 7. Naming of streets, is amended to read as follows: 7. Naming of streets. The City Council declines to rename streets in Corpus Christi except to serve a recognized purpose of local, regional, statewide or national significance. b. In any case, the City Council declines to rename any street: l) 2) 3) 4) that is a currently "named" functional classified arterial through street as listed in the Code of Ordinances, Section 53-250; for a person not deceased; that would create disruption or discontinuity to the name of a longer section street; or that is reflected on the 1852 Plan of Corpus Christi, or a street name that has existed within the original boundary of the 1852 Plan of Corpus Christi for a period of greater than 50 years. Not included in 7a or 7b is any proposed renaming of a street initiated by the City Traffic Engineer for the purposes of street network clarification or any proposal to provide a formal name to a street which has only a State Highway or County Road numerical classification (e. g.
