HomeMy WebLinkAbout024636 RES - 10/16/2001RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AMENDMENT NO. 19, THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROVIDING FOR THE 1SSUANCE OF ADDITIONAL GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS BY THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2 BILLION WHEREAS, Senator J. E. "Buster" Brown and Representative David Counts sponsored HJ.R. No. 81 proposing a constitutional amendment providing for the issuance of additional general obligation bonds by the Texas Water Development Board; and WHEREAS,the proposed constitutional amendment has been designated Amendment No. 19 on the November 6, 2001 election ballot; and WHEREAS, Amendment No. 19 substantially increases the ability of the Texas Water Development Board to issue bonds for water projects across the State of Texas; and WHEREAS,a possible project that would qualify for such bonding and/or grants would be the proposed desalination facility on Padre Island; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City of Corpus Christi supports passage of Amendment No. 19. SECTION 2. This resolution shall be filed by the City Secretary in the official records of the City. ATTEST: City Secretary 'Samuel L.
