AN ORDINANCE
REVISING SECTION 55-151(b) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, RELATING TO THE CITY'S WATER-WELL
LEASING PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1, Section 55-151 (b) of the Code of Ordinances is revised to read as follows:
"See, 55-151. Water conservation and drought contingency plan,
"(a) The Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan for Corpus Christi, dated
August 24, 1999, a true copy of which is on file in the office of the city secretary, is
adopted, and shall be followed in matters concerning water conservation, drought
management, and water supply enhancement programs.
"(b) The city manager shall pursue a water well leasing program to obtain and maintain
suffident leased acreage to prodtlce at least sixty million (CO,OOO,OOO) g8110ns per day
of-groundwater to supplement surface supplies, as economicallv feasible needed,"
SECTION 2, If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the
definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose,
SECTION 3, Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
