HomeMy WebLinkAbout024760 ORD - 02/12/2002 II AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-230(a)(2) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, REGARDING APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE WATER RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 2-230(a)(2) of the Code of Ordinances is revised to read as follows: DIVISION 20. WATER RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE' Sec. 2-230. Composition, organization, and duties. (a) Composition, , * * * * (2) The members of the advisory committee is appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council, for two-year terms of office, The initial members of said advisory committee shall be appointed as follows: Four (4) members of the advisory committee shall be initiallv appointed for a term of one year, and five (5) members of the advisory committee shall be appointed for a term of two (2) vears, Upon expiration of the term of office of the first nine (g) appointees. the succeedinq term of office for each new member shall be for a term of two (2) vears, Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term. All committee members shall serve without compensation, * * * , * SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3, A violation of this ordinance or requirements implemented hereunder shall constitute an offense, punishable as provided in {Section 1-6}{SPECIFY} of the City Code of Ordinances, R2Q701A1.doc 02476D 2 SECTION 4. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
