HomeMy WebLinkAbout024821 ORD - 04/16/2002 ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $140,688 IN THE NO. 1050 FEDERAL/STATE GRANTS FUND FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY TO SUPPORT THE POLICE DEP ARTMENT'S ROLE IN THE TEXAS COASTAL CORRIDOR INITIATIVE IN THE HOUSTON HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $140,688 is appropriated in the No. 1050 Federal/State Grants Fund from the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, to support the Police Department's role in the Texas Coastal Corridor Initiative in the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (I) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City atIilirs and (2)suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordin~.:be~ and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ~1Iday of , 2002.
