HomeMy WebLinkAbout025077 ORD - 10/29/2002 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9-37 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES UPON THE PROPERTY OFTHE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TO ALLOW THE DIRECTOR OF A VIA TION TO MAKE EXCEPTIONS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. Section 9-37 of the Code of Ordinances is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 9-37. Consumption of alcoholic beverages; intoxication, "It shall be unlawful for any person to consume alcoholic beverages upon the property of the Corpus Christi International Airport in areas other than those granted to franchise holders or lessees who, by contract with the city, have been authorized to sell and allow the consumption of such beverages in designated franchised or leased areas, except the Director of Aviation mav, in his/her discretion, approve exceptions for special occasions. It shall be unlawful for any person to be in a state of intoxication upon any of the property of the Corpus Christi International Airport." SECTION 2. If, for any reason, any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of the City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, phrase, word and provision hereof shall be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication of this ordinance shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, SECTION 4. Upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (I) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so tr.il.t this ordi1)ll);lce is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure on the --C:2i..':i11\ay of LW}1m I/) .2002.
