HomeMy WebLinkAbout025303 ORD - 05/20/2003ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $78,231 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, IN THE NO. 1050 STATE AND FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR FUNDING OF OVERTIME TO ENFORCE THE UNDERAGE DRINKING LAWS AND TO PREVENT YOUTH ACCESS TO AND ILLEGAL USES OF ALCOHOL; APPROPRIATING $27,000 IN THE STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT RESERVE IN NO 1050 FUND FOR GRANT MATCH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $78,231 from the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, is appropriated in the No. 1050 State and Federal grants funds for funding of overtime to enforce the underage drinking laws and to prevent youth access to and illegal uses of alcohol. SECTION 2. That $27,000 is appropriated in the State Law Enforcement Reserve in No. 1050 State and Federal Grants Fund for grant matching funds. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ~.~l~ay of -~' ~C~. ~ ,2003.
