APPROPRIATING $40,000 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT UNDER
THE FY-2002 PRE-DI~SASTER MITIGATION PROGRAM IN THE
NO. 1063 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT GRANTS FUND FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF A p ~E-DISASTER MITIGATION ACTION PLAN;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE Cll'~ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That $40,000 fro~ the Texas Department of Public Safety Division of
Emergency Management underlthe FY-2002 Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program is
appropriated in the No. 1063 Er~ergency Management Grants Fund for development of
a pre-disaster mitigation action I~lan.
SECTION 2. That upon written ~'equest of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, the City Council (1) fir~ds and declares an emergency due to the need for
immediate action necessary for~the efficient and effective administration of City affairs
and (2) suspends the Charter rulle that requires consideration of and voting upon
ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance j~q41ssed and takes effect
upon fir~t.,reading,~qs an emergency measure on this the ~v[~- day of
~/~ ~L.~'~ ,2003.

emergency exists requiring SUSl~ension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two r~gular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and I~ass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.
