HomeMy WebLinkAbout025769 ORD - 05/25/2004AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTERTWO, ARTICLE V, CODE OF ETHICS, SECTION 2-311, PROVISIONS FOR FORMER EMPLOYEES, SUBSECTION 21;PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The Code of Ordinances, Chapter Two, Article V, Code of Ethics, Section 2-311, Standards, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 2-31'1. Standards. "Provisions for employees: "(20) As an employee you shall not have an interest in any contract with the city. "(21) Unless previously recommended bv the City Manager, and approved by the Ethics Commision, as As an employee, you shall not, within twelve (12) months after leaving city employment, represent any other person or organization in any formal or informal appearance with the city council or any other agency or employee of the city concerning a project for which you had responsibility as an employee." SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon publication. SECTION 5. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance .is passed and takes effect upon first re/~d~g as an emergency measure this the ~ day of !
