HomeMy WebLinkAbout025779 ORD - 06/08/2004ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING AN ADDITIONAL $70,632 IN AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT NO. 470-04004 FROM THE TEXAS STATE LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES COMMISSION IN THE NO. 1068 LIBRARIES GRANT FUND TO AUGMENT FUNDS TO ALLOW THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY MATERIALS FOR FIFTY-TWO (52) MEMBER LIBRARIES AND TO CONTINUE BASIC OPERATIONS OF THE SOUTH TEXAS LIBRARY SYSTEM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That an additional $70,632 in an amendment to Contract No. 470- 04004 from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission is appropriated in the No. 1068 Libraries Grant Fund to augment funds to allow the purchase of library materials for fifty-two (52) member libraries and to continue basic operations of the South Texas Library System. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is ~_~ssed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of~c~..~_, 2004.
