HomeMy WebLinkAbout026342 ORD - 07/19/2005 ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $145,740 FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY, IN THE No. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND TO SUPPORT THE CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT'S (CCPD) ROLE IN THE TEXAS COASTAL CORRIDOR INITIATIVE IN THE HOUSTON HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $145,740 be appropriated from the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, in the NO.1 061 Police Grants Fund, In order to support CCPD's role in the Texas Coastal Corridor Initiative in the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading, this, the I q n-. day of M ' 2005. Stoneroad Assistant City Attorney 026342 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the attached ordinance, an emergency exists requiring suspension of that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings. Therefore, I/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
