HomeMy WebLinkAbout026427 ORD - 08/30/2005 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES SECTION 14-216 MINOR REPAIRS AND ALTERATIONS, BY REMOVING THE PERMIT EXEMPTION FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER HEATERS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 14-216 (e) (6), of the Code of Ordinances is deleted, and the following subsections renumbered, to read as follows: DIVISION 1, ADMINISTRATION OF TECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION CODES * * * Sec. 14-216. Minor repairs and alterations. * * * (e) Plumbing. * * * (6) Replacement of residontial type water heaters (excluding boilors) ....'ithout any ch::mgos to the gas system, to tho capacity, to the typo of heat sourco, or to the location, provided that the exhaust vent oonsists of a double walled vent pipe, and that the temperature and pressure relief '/alvo is replaced with a new valve, @-fA The use of temporary hoses connected to the outlets of clothes washing machines and condensate drains from dehumidifiers and air conditioning units that allow the grey water or condensate to be used to irrigate vegetation or water the building's foundation, illi81 The installation of a separate drain for clothes washing machines that allows the grey water to be used to irrigate vegetation or water the building's foundation, The drain may not be connected to the plumbing system, and the drain may not be connected to any device used to store grey water for future use, * * * * * SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or I-I :\LEG-DIR\Joseph\Ord-Plumb WH-2 I 6,doc u26427 unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 30th day of August, 2005.
