HomeMy WebLinkAbout026671 ORD - 03/21/2006AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $146,524.60 FROM THE STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM IN FIRE GRANTS FUND 1062 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A BUILDING ACCESS AND SECURITY SYSTEM FOR CITY HALL, THE POLICE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AND THE MARINA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $146,524.60 from the State Homeland Security Grant Program is appropriated in the No. 1062 Fire Grants Fund for the purchase of a building access and security system for City Hall, the Police Administration building, and the Marina to address homeland security issues SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached. the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure on this the 21st day of March, 2006.
