HomeMy WebLinkAbout026761 ORD - 05/09/2006ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $136,380 FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND TO SUPPORT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S ROLE IN THE TEXAS COASTAL CORRIDOR INITIATIVE IN THE HOUSTON HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That $136,380 from the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to support the Police Department's role in the Texas Coastal Corridor Initiative in the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 9th of May, 2006 ATTEST: THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Armando Chapa, City Secretary Henry Garre , Mayor Approved as to form 2006 Joseph Harr by Assistant City Attorney For City Attorney TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the attached ordinance, an emergency exists requiring suspension of that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings. Therefore, Ilwe request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
