HomeMy WebLinkAbout026871 ORD - 07/18/2006ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $41,404 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND FOR FUNDING AVAILABLE UNDER THE VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. SE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $41,404 from the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund for funding available under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Fund; and an emergency is declared due to the need for immediate action for efficient and effective administration of City affairs; all for funding the salary and benefits for a Victim Case Manager, along with equipment, training, supplies and mileage for the purpose of providing assistance to those victims who have suffered Loss and trauma as a direct result of criminal acts. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 18th day of July 2006.
