HomeMy WebLinkAbout027068 ORD - 12/12/2006ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $25,039 FROM SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE FOR A PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS GRANT IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $18,587 FROM THE NO. 1020 CASH CONTRIBUTION TO GRANTS TO THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $25,039 from Sam Houston State University and the National Institute of Justice for a Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund and authorizing the transfer of $18,587 from the No. 1020 Cash Contributions to Grants to the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 12th of December, 2006. Therefore, I /we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
