HomeMy WebLinkAbout027360 ORD - 08/21/2007ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $20,000 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG ENFORCEMENT T ADMINISTRATION (DEA) FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE OFFICERS ON AN OVERTIME TIME BASIS TO A JOINT OPERATION/TASK FORCE IN THE NO. 1020 GENERAL FUND - POLICE DEPARTMENT; AMENDING ORDINANCE 027352 WHICH ADOPTED THE FY2007-2008 BUDGET INCREASING BOTH REVENUES ENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS IATIONS DY $20,000; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $20,000 from the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration is appropriated in the General Fund No. 1020 for the police department to provide officers on an overtime basis to a joint operation/task force. SECTION 2. That the FY 200 7-2008 Operating Budget, adopted by Ordinance No. 027352, is amended by increasing revenues and appropriations by $20,000. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 215T of August, 2007. Therefore, !Ave request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
