HomeMy WebLinkAbout027375 ORD - 08/28/2007ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $143,605 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FOR A COMPREHENSIVE SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROJECT (STEP) IN NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $143,605 from the Texas Department of Transportation is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund for funding of a comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Project (STEP). SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading, this, the 28th day of August, 2007. Therefore, I/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
