DEPARTMENT T F JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANT FUND TO PURCHASE LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND NIECES COUNTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT' OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $236,403 from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance is appropriated in the Police Grants Fund No. 1061 for the purchase of law enforcement equipment for the police department and Nueces County. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 11th of September, 200 7. Therefore, 1/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
