A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING ING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE PORT OF CORPUS
CHRISTI AUTHORITY OF NIECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR THE
REMOVAL OF THE TULE LAKE LIFT BRIDGE
WHEREAS, the vertical lift bridge across Tule Lake Channel in the Inner Harbor
of the Port of Corpus Christi is owned by the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, in September, 2006, the Bridge was closed to road traffic and on
September 29, 2007, the Bridge was closed to rail traffic due to increased safety
concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Fulton Corridor now provides a replacement route for rail traffic;
and
WHEREAS, Port Industries of Corpus Christi supports closure and removal of
the Bridge and the Port of Corpus Christi Authority of Nueces County, Texas, has
recommended that the Bridge be permanently closed and removed; and
WHEREAS, as consideration of the City's conveyance of the Bridge to the Port
of Corpus Christi Authority of Nueces County, Texas, the Port of Corpus Christi
Authority of Nueces County, Texas, will pay 100 of the cost for demolition and
removal of the Bridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute an interlocal
agreement between the City of Corpus Christi and the Port of Corpus Christi
Authority of Nueces County, Texas, for the removal of the Tule Lake Lift Bridge,
