HomeMy WebLinkAbout027471 ORD - 11/13/2007AN ORDINANC APPROPRIATING X1,389,430 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR'S DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM IN THE NO. 1062 FIRE GRANTS FUND FOR THE PURCHASE OF SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $1,389,430 from the Office of the Governor's Division of Emergency Management Homeland Security Grant Program is appropriated in the No. 1062 Fire Grants Fund for the purchase of specialized equipment and training to improve the City's ability to respond to homeland security issues. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, ers, copy attached, the City Council finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure on this the 13th day of November, 200 7.
