AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, CHAPTER 17, ESTABLISHING $2.50 CONVENIENCE FEE
FOR RESIDENTIAL UTILITY PAYMENTS VIA INTERNET OR
AUTOMATED TELEPHONE SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE;
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17, Finance and Taxation, Article I, of the Code of Ordinances is
amended to add new section 17-3.1, to read as follows:
"Sec. 17-3.1 Convenience fee for residential utility payments made via Internet or
automated telephone system.
"The convenience fee for residential utility payments made via the Internet or through
automated telephone system is $2.50 per transaction."
SECTION 2. if for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the
definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word or provision of this ordinance be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 4. This ordinance takes effect February 4, 2008.
