AN ORDINANCE
NAMING THE PARK ON THE PEOPLES STREET T -HEAD AS
"NORMA URBAN PARK AT PEOPLES STREET T -HEAD"; WAIVING
THE 60 -DAY WAITING PERIOD AND PUBLICATION OF LEGAL
NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Under Policy No. 6 of Council Policies, Resolution No. 21901, adopted
March 22, 1994, the City Council waives the 60 -day waiting period and publication of
legal notice for the naming of a City park.
SECTION 2. The park located on the Peoples Street T -head, which has never been
formally named, is hereby named Norma Urban Park at Peoples Street T -head.
Attached is an exhibit depicting the location of this park.
SECTION 3. It is the definite intent of the City Council that every section, paragraph,
subdivision, phrase, word and provision hereof shall be given full force and effect for its
purpose. Therefore, if any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for
immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs
and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon
ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 12th day of February, 2008.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.
