HomeMy WebLinkAbout027897 ORD - 10/21/2008AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $748,018 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES IN THE NO. 1066 HEALTH GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE FOR THE WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN PROGRAM, BASED ON AN $11.55 REIMBURSEMENT FOR EACH PARTICIPANT SERVED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. A grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services, in the amount of $748,018, is appropriated in the No. 1066 Health Grants Fund to provide for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, based on an $11.55 reimbursement for each participant served. This funding is provided for the period beginning October 1, 2008, and ending September 30, 2009. SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed atd takes effect upon fi$ re ding as an emergency measure on this the £2) day of �p�lG� , 2008.
