HomeMy WebLinkAbout028041 ORD - 02/10/2009AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $5,900 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES IN THE NO. 1066 HEALTH GRANTS FUND TO PERFORM INFLUENZA TESTING ON CLINICAL SPECIMENS SUBMITTED FROM HOSPITALS AND CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE SERVICE AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. A grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services, in the amount of $5,900, is appropriated in the No. 1066 Health Grants Fund to perform influenza testing on clinical specimens submitted from hospitals and clinics throughout the service area. This contract provides the Health District with financial assistance to purchase supplies and reagents for the tests. The contract period is from January 1, 2009 through August 31, 2009. SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is pass and takes effect upon first ading as an emergency measure on this the %17 day of , 2009.
