HomeMy WebLinkAbout028043 ORD - 02/10/2009AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $102,276 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES IN THE NO. 1066 HEALTH GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELIMINATION AND CONTROL OF TUBERCULOSIS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. A grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services, in the amount of $102,276, is appropriated in the No. 1066 Health Grants Fund to provide funding for the elimination and control of tuberculosis. The contract provides the Health District with financial assistance for expenses to support services to individuals who have tuberculosis or those who have a high risk of developing tuberculosis. The contract period is from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed d takes effect upon first red'g as an emergency measure on this the day of 2009.
