HomeMy WebLinkAbout028102 ORD - 03/31/2009ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $100,000 FROM THE GOVERNOR'S DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND FOR OVERTIME ASSOCIATED WITH THE BORDER STAR PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $100,000 is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund from the Governor's Division of Emergency Management, Texas Department of Public Safety, for overtime associated with the Border Star Program. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading, this the 31" day of March, 2009. Therefore, 1/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
