HomeMy WebLinkAbout028118 ORD - 04/14/2009AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 28007, WHICH ENACTED NEW PROVISIONS RELATED TO SMOKING, TO REVISE THE EFFECTIVE DATE TO JUNE 15, 2009; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Section 5, of Ordinance No. 28007, which repealed and enacted new provisions of Section 23-76 of the Code of Ordinances, entitled "Smoking Prohibitions," is amended by revising the effective date to read as follows: "SECTION 5. The provisions of this ordinance are effective on and after April June 15, 2009." SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is ssed and akes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure on this the /t'Jay of , 2009.
