HomeMy WebLinkAbout028233 ORD - 07/21/2009ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $394,454 FROM THE TEXAS AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION AUTHORITY (ATPA) IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND TO CONTINUE THE MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT ENFORCEMENT GRANT WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR YEAR 9; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $394,454 from the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to continue the motor vehicle theft enforcement grant within the Police Department for Year 9. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on Ai July 2009. Therefore, I/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
