AN ORDINANCE
APPOINTING RODOLFO TAMEZ, DEANIE M. KING, MARGIE SILVA
FLORES, MARY K. MEDARY, MICHAEL ALANIZ AND JULIANNA
SIRACUSA RIVERA AS MUNICIPAL JUDGES OF THE MUNICIPAL
COURT OF RECORD IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI;
APPOINTING MELISSA MADRIGAL, JERRY L. BATEK, CRAIG
HENDERSON, CHRISTOPHER MATT AND PATRICK O'HARE AS
PART-TIME JUDGES OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF RECORD IN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; DETERMINING SALARY;
PROVIDING A TERM OF OFFICE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Rodolfo Tamez, Deanie M. King, Margie Silva Flores, Mary K.
Medary, Michael Alaniz, and Julianna Siracusa Rivera are appointed Municipal Judges
of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. Each person appointed to the full-time municipal judge position shall
receive their current salary, and subsequent pay increases identified in City Council's
plan to move the municipal judge salaries to the City midpoint, with the Municipal Court
Judges receiving a 2.5% increase effective August 17, 2009, a 3.5% increase effective
January 4, 2010 and a 4.9% increase effective May 3, 2010.
SECTION 3. That Melissa Madrigal, Jerry L. Batek, Craig Henderson, Christopher Matt
and Patrick O'Hare are appointed as Part -Time Judges of the Municipal Court of Record
in the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 4. Each person appointed to the part-time municipal judge position shall
receive their current salary and subsequent pay increases identified in City Council's
plan to move the municipal judge salaries to the City midpoint.
SECTION 5. That each judge shall hold office for a -two-year term coterminous with the
term of the appointing city council unless sooner removed or until the successor, if any,
is appointed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for
immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs
and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon
ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 28th day of July, 2009.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.
