APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $1,393,181 FROM THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT UNDER
THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009
FOR THE HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE -HOUSING
PROGRAM IN THE NO. 1059 GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE
HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION ASSISTANCE, SERVICES, AND
ACTIVITIES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. A grant, in the amount of $1,393,181, which was received from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development under the American Recovery and Re-
investment Act of 2009, is appropriated in the No. 1059 Grants Fund for the Homeless
Prevention and Rapid Re -housing Program to provide homelessness prevention assis-
tance, services, and activities.
SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for
immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs,
and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon
ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is pass and takes effect

emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
