HomeMy WebLinkAbout028331 ORD - 10/13/2009ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $42,536.00 FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) AND DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS), FY 2008 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM — FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY GRANTS, INTO THE NO. 1060 FIRE GRANTS FUND WITH A CASH MATCH OF $10,634.00 FOR A TOTAL OF $53,170.00 TO PURCHASE FIRE PREVENTION EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $42,536.00 is appropriated from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FY 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program — Fire Prevention and Safety Grants, into the No. 1060 Fire Grants Fund with a cash match of $10,634.00 for a total of $53,170.00 to purchase fire prevention and educational supplies and equipment; and declaring an emergency. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is p ssed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 13 of Seer, 2009.
