HomeMy WebLinkAbout028332 ORD - 10/13/2009ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $256,634 FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANT FUND TO PURCHASE LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND NUECES COUNTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $256,634 from the U.S. department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to purchase law enforcement equipment for the Police Department and Nueces County. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is pa sed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 13 of.&cptcmber, 2009.
