HomeMy WebLinkAbout028348 ORD - 10/13/2009AN ORDINANCE RATIFYING THE EXECUTION OF A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ("TCEQ") AND THE U. S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY USE OF SPACE AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT NO COST IN CASE OF A DISASTER WHICH RENDERS THE TCEQ REGION 14 OFFICES UNUSABLE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Execution of a memorandum of agreement with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ('TCEQ") and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency is hereby ratified in order to provide emergency use of space at the Corpus Christi Inter- national Airport at no cost in case of a disaster which renders the TCEQ Region 14 offices unusable. SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon fir r adjng as an emergency measure on this the /311' day of e& , 2009.
