HomeMy WebLinkAbout028460 ORD - 01/19/2010ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $279,529 FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANT FUND TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR MUNICIPAL COURT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $279,529 is appropriated from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance into the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to purchase equipment for the Police Department and educational program for Municipal Court. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is a ed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the ff January, 2010. Therefore, I/we request that you suspend said Charter rule and finally pass this ordinance on the date of its introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
