HomeMy WebLinkAbout028470 RES - 01/26/2010RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $517,268 TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR FUNDING ELIGIBLE UNDER THE FY 2009 RECOVERY ACT - EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FORMULA GRANT, TO BE USED FOR THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AND SWORN OFFICER OVERTIME IN AN EFFORT TO DISRUPT GANGS AS WELL AS THE TRAFFICKING OF ILLEGAL DRUGS, CONTRABAND, AND HUMAN BEINGS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to submit a grant application in the amount of $517,268 to the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office for funding eligible under the FY 2009 Recovery Act - Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Formula Grant, to be used for the purchase of equipment and sworn officer overtime in an effort to disrupt gangs as well as the trafficking of illegal drugs, contraband and human beings. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, may apply for, accept, reject, agree to alter the terms and conditions, or terminate the grant, if the grant is awarded to the City. SECTION 3. In the event of the loss or misuse of these State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office funds, the City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds will be returned to the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office in full.
