AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$2,328,090 TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, COPS
OFFICE, FOR THE COPS HIRING RECOVERY PROGRAM
(CHRP) TO HIRE 10 ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS WITHIN
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT,
REJECT, ALTER OR TERMINATE THE GRANT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to submit a grant application
in the amount of $2,328,099 to the U.S. Department of Justice, COPS Office, for the
COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) to hire 10 additional police officers within the
Police Department.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, may apply for, accept, reject, agree to
alter the terms and conditions, or terminate the grant, if the grant is awarded to the City.
SECTION 3. In the event of the loss or misuse of these U.S. Department of Justice,
COPS Office funds, the City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds will be returned to
the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office in full.
