HomeMy WebLinkAbout029013 ORD - 03/29/2011ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $16,774.20 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, GOVERNOR'S DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS (HMEP) GRANT PROGRAM IN THE NO. 1062 FIRE GRANTS FUND FOR PUBLIC AWARENESS BROCHURES, SCHOOL BOOK COVERS, PRODUCTION AND BROADCAST OF PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND TO CONDUCT AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE AND ACTIVITIES, WITH A CASH OR SOFT MATCH OF $5,975.80; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $16,774.20 is appropriated from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Governor's Division of Emergency Management, Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant Program in the No. 1062 Fire Grants Fund for public awareness brochures, school book covers, production and broadcast of public service announcements, and to conduct an emergency response exercise and activities, with a cash or soft match of $5,975.80. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is aJAsed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the bf March, 2011.
