HomeMy WebLinkAbout029059 RES - 05/17/2011RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $175,000 TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ), OFFICE OF THE JUSTICE PROGRAM (OJP), NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE (NIJ) FOR FUNDING AVAILABLE UNDER THE COVERDELL FORENSIC SCIENCES IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND TIMELINESS OF FORENSIC SCIENCE AND MEDICAL EXAMINER SERVICES, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER OR TERMINATE THE GRANT. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to submit a grant application in the amount of $175,000 to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Justice Program (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) for funding available under the Coverdell Forensic Sciences Improvement Grant Program to improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science and medical examiner services. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, may apply for, accept, reject, agree to alter the terms and conditions, or terminate the grant, if the grant is awarded to the City. SECTION 3. In the event of the loss or misuse of these U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Justice Program (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) funds, the City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds will be returned to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Justice Program (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in full.
