HomeMy WebLinkAbout029114 ORD - 07/12/2011ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $570,000 IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FEMA FOR FUNDING ELIGIBLE UNDER THE BUFFER ZONE PROTECTION PROGRAM (BZPP) TO PURCHASE LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $570,000 is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Department of Homeland Security FEMA for funding eligible under the Buffer Zone Protection Program (BZPP) to purchase law enforcement equipment for the police department. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is pssed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading, this the !2 day of July 2011.
