AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$212,139 TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU
OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR FUNDING ELIGIBLE UNDER
THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM FY 2011 LOCAL SOLICITATION; 50%
OF THE FUNDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO NUECES COUNTY
UNDER THE ESTABLISHED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT.
GRANT FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF
LAW ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS BY THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND NUECES COUNTY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to submit
a grant application in the amount of $212,139 to the U.S. Department of
Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance for funding eligible under the
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY
2010 Local Solicitation; 50% of the funds to be distributed to Nueces
County under the established interlocal agreement. Grant funds will be
used for the enhancement of law enforcement efforts by the Police
Department and Nueces County.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.
