HomeMy WebLinkAbout029176 ORD - 08/30/2011AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $166,825 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES IN THE NO. 1066 HEALTH GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM RELATING TO A PLAN FOR RESPONDING TO AN ACT OF TERRORISM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Grant funding in the amount of $166,825 from the Texas Department of State Health Services is appropriated in the No. 1066 Health Grants Fund to provide a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program relating to a plan for responding to an act of terrorism. SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect up• first rea• ing as an emergency measure on this the 5D day of , 2011.
