HomeMy WebLinkAbout029248 ORD - 10/18/2011ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $500,000 FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS) FOR FUNDING AVAILABLE UNDER THE 2011 COPS CHILD SEXUAL PREDATOR PROGRAM WITH A CITY 1N -KIND CONTRIBUTION OF $10,000 IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND TO BE USED TO REDUCE CHILD ENDANGERMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for funding available under the 2011 COPS Child Sexual Predator Program with a city in-kind contribution of $10,000 in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to be used to reduce child endangerment. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two regular meetings, so that this ordinance is ,gassed and takes effect as an emergency measure upon its first reading on this the 1'+"` of October, 2011.
